May 4 : Taiko: The Art of Japanese Drumming with Mark Rooney

This interactive program features the performance of both traditional and contemporary songs and rhythms and explores the instruments, the use of one's voice in taiko, and a bit of history and Japanese vocabulary, as well. Performances include the chance for volunteers to get up and try their hand at playing these BIG drums! This program is designed to delight children of all ages and are filled with music and activities that promote and develop language skills and imagination. TICKETS REQUIRED!  Tickets will be given out at the Connie Morella Library Information Desk beginning 30 minutes before performance. The two performances are at 2PM and 3PM.

May 9 - May 12 : Imagination Stage Student Performance: Same

Welcome to the Standard Academy for Magical Expulsion, where students learn how to suppress and push down their dangerous magical powers. Everyone here is normal, or at least they're trying to be. That is, until a decidedly not-so-normal explosion of magic detonates in the detention room. (Im)Perfect invites audiences to envision a world free from flaws, in which citizens live perfectly within carefully constructed notions of peace, harmony, and cooperation. May 9 : Montgomery County's Spring Forum: Journey to Recovery

Join Leila Thomas, Stroke Research Registered Nurse with the NIH Stroke Program at Suburban Hospital, as she discusses stroke risk factors and prevention strategies. May 25 : "Our Earth" Book Discussion Club @ Connie Morella Library

Come, share your ideas and learn more about environmental topics in this space for thoughtful exchange, around fiction and non-fiction books. This month we will discuss Hope In the Dark, by Rebecca Solnit. Drawing on her decades of activism and a wide reading of environmental, cultural, and political history, Solnit argues that radicals have a long, neglected history of transformative victories, that the positive consequences of our acts are not always immediately seen, directly knowable, or even measurable, and that pessimism and despair rest on an unwarranted confidence about what is going to happen next.
