SUMMARY:Sally & Tom
DESCRIPTION:Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (Topdog/Underdog) delivers a “hilarious and harrowing nesting doll of a play” (The New York Times) in Sally & Tom\, a bold\, whip-smart theatrical rollercoaster. A scrappy theatre group is staging a play about Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson\, with the playwright playing Sally and her partner directing and playing Tom. What could possibly go wrong? As art and life collide\, rehearsals spiral into chaos\, unearthing powerful truths about race\, power\, and art. By turns funny\, gut-wrenching\, and unflinchingly honest\, Sally & Tom is a bold and entertaining explosion of the stories we tell about America’s not-so-distant past that will stay with you long after the final bow.

SUMMARY:A Night of Wonder: The Music of Stevie
DESCRIPTION:SAT JUNE 20 | 8:00PM\nDOORS/DINNER 6:00PM\nCombs Music Unlimited presents “A Night of Wonder: The Music of Stevie” bringing you an unforgettable night of music from the songbook of one of the world’s most influential musicians. This concert features the classic songs of Stevie Wonder ranging from his early Motown hits through the golden era of Soul in the 70s that set the stage for today’s Neo Soul and changed R&B forever. It is a celebration of amazing songwriting\, funky musicianship\, heart-wrenching ballads and old school favorites with a nod to the many beloved “deep cuts” that have become Stevie Wonder essentials. Led by Cincinnati-born vocalist Brandon Combs who has proven that there is no genre of music he cannot sing\, this concert is the ideal showcase for both his incredibly soulful voice and his remarkable ability to captivate and entertain an audience.

SUMMARY:Reading & Writing Contemporary Poetry
DESCRIPTION:Write new poems based on exciting new poetic voices! \nIn this generative poetry course\, we will immerse ourselves in the landscape of contemporary poetry and craft our own poems. Each week\, we will read works published in contemporary literary journals from a diverse range of writers including Patrycja Humienik\, KB Brookins\, Kenzie Allen\, Hanif Abdurraqib\, and many others. We will also engage with their work via interviews/craft essays. We will then use techniques and inspiration from them to kickstart our writing process. With writing exercises and prompts\, students can expect to write at least one poem a week. There will be opportunities to receive written feedback on your work from your peers\, plus feedback from the instructor across the duration of the class.
