DESCRIPTION:The Writer’s Center welcomes author Robert W. Fieseler for a reading from his new publication\, American Scare\, Florida’s Hidden Cold War on Black and Queer Lives. Robert is joined by author Ronald Collins. \nFREE & open to the public. RSVP here. \nRobert W. Fieseler is a journalist investigating marginalized groups and a scholar excavating forgotten histories. A National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association Journalist of the Year and recipient of the Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship\, his debut book Tinderbox won seven awards\, including the Edgar Award\, and his reporting has appeared in Slate\, Commonweal\, and River Teeth\, among others. Fieseler graduated co-valedictorian from the Columbia Journalism School and is pursuing a PhD at Tulane University as a Mellon Fellow. He lives with his husband on the gayest street in New Orleans. \nRonald Collins is a retired law professor and author of 13 books on topics such as civil rights\, free speech\, artificial intelligence\, popular culture\, and noted literary figures. He is the co-founder of the History Book Festival. Some years back he was selected as a Norman Mailer Fellow in fiction writing with residence in Provincetown and before that served as a Supreme Court fellow under Chief Justice Warren Burger\, among other things.

RSVP here. \njason b. crawford (They/He) born in Washington\, DC\, and raised in Lansing\, MI\, is the author of Year of the Unicorn Kidz. Their second collection\, YEET! is the winner of the Omnidawn 1st/2nd Book Prize and will be published Fall 2025. They have been published in POETRY Magazine\, Academy of American Poets\, Cincinnati Review\, Beloit Poetry Journal\, and RHINO Poetry\, among others. They are a 2023 Emerging Writers Fellow for Lambda Literary and hold their MFA in Poetry from The New School. \nAbi Pollokoff is the author of night myths • • before the body (Red Hen Press\, 2025). A Pushcart-nominated poet\, her poems can be found in TriQuarterly\, The Pinch\, The Seventh Wave\, and Radar\, where she was a finalist for the Coniston Prize. Abi was a 2024 AWP Writer to Writer mentee and has been supported by organizations such as the Jack Straw Cultural Center and Hugo House.
