DESCRIPTION:TOWN HALL ART GALLERY EXHIBIT \nVal Lewton (1937-2015) “To paint is to see”\, August 31\, 2026\, through January 8\, 2027 \nBy Barbara Zeughauser – Town Hall Art Gallery Curator \nThe Somerset Town Hall Art Gallery is honored to present a special exhibition of artist Val Lewton’s work\, sponsored by his wife\, Claudia Minicozzi. Well known in the Washington area\, Lewton’s paintings are held in major public and private collections\, including the National Gallery of Art Corcoran Collection\, Smithsonian American Art Museum\, The Phillips Collection\, American University Katzen Center\, George Washington University\, and others. \nVal Lewton was born May 23\, 1937\, in Santa Monica\, California.  He graduated from Whitman College and earned a master of fine arts degree from Claremont University.  After moving to Washington\, DC\, he served on the staff of the Smithsonian American Art Museum for 32 years\, while maintaining a career as a painter in his own right.  Lewton died in 2015\, but soon afterwards\, exhibitions of his paintings were held at the Katzen Arts Center and Addison/Ripley Fine Art.  \nThe Val Lewton (1937-2015) “To paint is to see” exhibit will be on view from August 31\, 2026\, through January 8\, 2027\, in the Town Hall Art Gallery\, during regular Town Office Hours\, Mon-Fri\, 9am – 4:30pm.  The Official Opening and reception will be held on Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\, from 3:00-6:00PM.  All pieces will be available for sale.

DESCRIPTION:Get up and get moving at storytime! These 20-30-minute programs are full of a diverse collection of books\, songs and fun activities. They are designed to introduce your child to the culture of reading and help develop your child’s language skills. Children are encouraged to engage with the stories and activities\, and their grownups are encouraged to participate in the program along with children.  ​ \nSpace is limited! FREE tickets are available on a first come\, first served basis at the Information desk beginning 30 minutes before the program. Toddler Storytime occurs at 10:30 and 11:15.
