The 2011 Bethesda Painting Awards will be juried by Phillip Geiger, Evelyn Hankins and Jinchul Kim.

Evelyn Hankins has been Associate Curator at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. since 2007. She earned her Master of Arts and doctorate in art history from Stanford University. From 2004-2007, Hankins was the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Robert Hull Fleming Museum at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Previously, she worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, NY.

Phillip Geiger earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Washington University, and then went on to complete his Master of Fine Arts at Yale University. He has taught drawing and painting at the University of Virginia since 1983. Geiger’s paintings have been shown across the U.S. in solo and group exhibitions, and he is represented by Tibor DeNagy Gallery in New York, and Reynolds Gallery in Richmond.

Jinchul Kim has been with the Salisbury University Art Department since 1996. He has shown his work all over the world, and has won numerous awards, including first place at a self-portraits exhibition at the Maryland Federation of Art in Annapolis. Kim received his Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Art in New York, NY, as well as from the King Sejong University in Seoul, Korea, where he also earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
